This handmade pair of made-to-order pendulum earrings features two Mexican hydrophane opals set in 14K gold-fill. Gold-fill provides a much thicker layer of gold than gold-plated and should not wear off with proper care. These earrings measure 3-3/4" in length and weigh approximately 8 grams each. Kindly allow up to 4 weeks for production.

Hydrophane opals are unique in that they are opaque and cloudy white when dry, but when immersed in water, the water fills the pores of the stone, causing the opal to become translucent or even transparent, and display a brilliant and unexpected play-of-color. When dried, it returns to its dull appearance. This remarkable ability to change its appearance gave rise to the superstition that these stones contained a magic "hidden eye" capable of seeing everything. In some superstitious circles it is still referred to as Magic Stone and worn as a special magical charm.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

As with all handmade jewelry, this piece is delicate and should not be worn during strenuous activity or in water. Please take care to remove it while swimming, bathing, washing hands, playing sports, etc. and avoid applying oils and lotions while wearing it.

PACKAGING

As with all La Femme Boheme pieces, this item will come gift-wrapped in packaging made from 100% recycled, reused, or biodegradable components. Please reuse or recycle the packaging to the extent possible.
